Check out the amazing video below! We did this same trip to Croatia in the Summer of 2009 and it literally changed our lives. It's where we came up with our slogan "be happy. live comfortably." It's where we finalized the original sunglasses design because everyone we met loved it. It's when we fully realized we need to be pursuing our passions and dreams full-time. And it's where we made a million unforgettable stories with amazing friends. This video will definitely pump you up for summer.

And our future goal is to now own this ridiculous yacht!

  • Running Diary: Babysitting my nephew Leo...

Posted on April 6, 2010 by richamundson

With Mothers and Fathers day Approaching soon, here's a shout-out to all the parents out there. I don't know how you do it...

    *********

I babysat my 6-week old nephew little Leo this morning. He holds the title as the youngest and cutest Dicks Cottons fan alive! Here is a running diary:

10:15- Leo is well fed, smiling, and happy. I just woke up so I'm feeling pretty good too. My sister sits him in my lap and we're off!

10:16- I realize we have absolutely nothing in common and nothing to talk about. He doesn't even know his arms and legs belong to him yet but they somehow keep moving anyway. My goal is to keep him from crying until my sister gets back.

10:17 - I heard he likes to move around a lot so that's my go-to move if he gets cranky. So far so good he's just sitting there in my lap thinking whatever it is babies think about. Sportscenter is giving me the morning news in the background. This isn't so hard.

10: 20- I am making faces at him and talking like a baby. He has zero reaction. Let's move on.

10:24 - He starts talking to me and making baby noises. This is kinda fun he's trying to tell me something!

10:24 - Leo lets out a huge smile as a human-sounding 5-second fart goes vibrating through my jeans. Very well, then. I haven't seen anyone this excited since Red Sox fans when Pedro threw out the first pitch on Opening night.

10:26 - Uh oh, sudden turn for the worse! He's crying. I haven't done anything differently since he was happy and comfortable 10 minutes ago, but then again he has no memory, so he doesn't know that. Maybe he's pooping. Maybe he needs to be burped. Maybe he's bored and misses Mommy. Maybe he's sick of looking over my shoulder at a blank wall. Maybe he can tell I haven't showered yet today.  Maybe its all of those things...the possibilities are endless, and needless to say, I am confused.

10:28 - Laying him on my shoulder and burping him. Nope.

10:29 - Holding him under the arms and bouncing him up and down. Nope.

10:30 - Trying the other shoulder. Maybe he didn't like facing the other way. Nope.

10:31 - Laying sideways in the nursing/cradle position. Nope.

(Side note- Nothing makes you feel worse than holding a 6 week-old who is crying in the cutest little whimper ever...and you feel helpless to stop it)

10:32 - I suddently remember my go-to move, so I stand up, hold him so his head is on my shoulder and start walking around the empty house to see if that works....waiting, waiting, YUP!

10:35 - He's passed out and sleeping. How long will he sleep for? How long will I have to keep wandering around the house? Time till only tell I guess.

10:40 - I'm absolutely petrified of tripping on something and dropping him so I hold on to him extra tight. My mind is racing with bad things that could happen so I'm making sure each step is calculated (for future reference, anything I walked by with a sharp corner gave me the heebie-jeebies).

10:50 - Having done about 15 laps, I am losing feeling in my arms. The house is silent besides my humming and singing to him. I am bored out of my mind. He's not heavy, but try carrying something in both arms for 15 mins while walking around doing nothing. It is not fun. I must sit down. Soon.

10:51 - I sit back down on the couch about as gingerly as a 95 year old woman so that I won't disturb his sleep.

10:53 - I finally get comfortable on the couch with him on my arm and he is still asleep. Its at this point I realize my phone and the remote are just outside the reach of my foot. I mumble a few expletives to myself.

10:54 - I'm bending over trying to grab my phone and the remote, while keeping him comfortably on my shoulder and while also not dropping him. I wish I had this on tape.

10:58 - Phew back down on the couch and he's still asleep.

11:00 - I am dozing off. I put both arms around him so in case I fall asleep he doesn't fall over.

11:05 - Even though I can't keep my eyes open, I still can't sleep because my arms are tired. I just want to let them lay on the couch but I have to hold him in case he wakes and jolts around or something. He's completely sleeping and not moving at all and this is still exhausting. I would put him in his chair but I'm afraid he'd wake up and start crying again. So I'm just playing a game of "freeze-sitting" until my sister gets home. At least I get to see highlights of Donovan McNabb over and over again.

11:07 - He's tossing and turning and making noises on my shoulder as I am a deer in headlights...Nooooooooo!

11:09- Phew, he's awake again but not crying.  He's just starting at me. Sorry pal, I don't have boobs.

11:14 - I hear the door open and my sister walks over to me and takes him out of arms and as soon as she takes him, I realize I kinda miss him already.  Little Leo and I were just starting to bond and get each other. Exhausted from the last hour, I immediately lie down on the couch.

11:15 - I'm curled up in a ball, completely passed out, and dreaming about summer and the beach. Hey, I guess me and Leo aren't so different after all...

  • Snooki Love

Posted on February 24, 2010 by richamundson

Nicole Polizzi, aka Snooki, aka Snickers, aka Snookums, immediately fell in love with Dicks Cottons (DC) after first getting a pair of 20nines at a friends' New Years Eve party in New York City.  We caught up with her yesterday in NYC for a bit and she told us she used to have to buy new shades almost every 2 weeks trying to find something she liked until she discovered DC.  It was good to hear we were able to help free up time and hassle for her having to look for sunglasses, especially when she's traveling all over the country with a pretty aggressive and giving celebrity and media appearance schedule.
